Star architect Camillo Botticini calls his “interior and exterior” facade concept “visual continuity”. Whatever you call it, he has certainly scooped another international prize in the “Public Buildings” category with this exclamation mark in terms of municipal architecture. The solitary building proudly blends into the established structure of its surroundings in aesthetic disharmony and combines an astonishing number of aspects of successful, contemporary architecture. The compact volume of the almost 20,000 m2 activity area was broken down into finely defined components without losing the sense of unity.

Three functional cores are concealed behind the façade. A water polo competition pool (33 x 25 meters) with a grandstand and 800 seats. Indoor and outdoor sports pools for public swimming and a fitness center with a bar area. Different entrances divide the professional area and the swimming area - in other words, they are autonomous. And yet everything about this building, including the outdoor areas, has an integrating effect.
