Just a few months after its completion, the ‘Parkend’ residential quarter was included in the ‘FIABCI Prix d'Excellence Official Selection 2019’, one of the most coveted awards for construction projects - the ‘Oscar’, so to speak, for particularly outstanding project developments in architecture. It is therefore no coincidence that the neighbourhood in Frankfurt's Europaviertel bears the epithet ‘residential park of superlatives’: embedded in a liveable environment, living in state-of-the-art comfort offers an extraordinarily high quality of life. The two apartment buildings completed in 2019, ‘Versailles Park’ and ‘Louise-Marie-Park’, with a total of 105 exclusive flats, blend into the ‘white city’ with a pure southern exposure on the front line to the park.

In terms of urban planning, the residential neighbourhood is characterised by a harmonious, urban-elegant overall appearance. And the planning architects at Wentz & Co have succeeded here in achieving what many new-build complexes lack: Each of the 18 individual buildings shows a personal ‘face’, its own style, with an individual façade design. At the same time, the superimposed approach of the façade architecture combines the individual buildings into a harmonious, coherent overall design. With numerous projections and recesses, emphasised window reveals and visually effective balconies integrated into the building envelope, the two buildings present themselves as a modern adaptation of the popular Wilhelminian style façades. The chosen mix of clinker brick and rendered surfaces on the façades creates a further architecturally harmonious bridge between tradition and modernity.

The clinker brick slips from Ströher ground the base storeys with a haptically appealing surface texture and a mix of formats and colours in various shades of grey and beige, effectively accentuating different areas of the facade. The product name of the brick slips can therefore be taken literally: The creative potential of the clinker brick for customised façade architecture is revealed in various laying patterns and the combination of different bondings. And the brick slip proves that clinker brick is not at all outdated. It is without doubt a material with a great future.
