An innovative mix of brick slips, metal and LED on the outside. Inside, an innovative form of community. The building itself looks very dynamic, which probably makes it all the easier to do sport. The entire complex comprises two 25-metre pools, an eight-lane competition pool and a four-lane training pool with a retractable spectator stand for 300 people, squash courts, two dance and multi-purpose studios, a 120-station fitness suite and a multi-spaced sports hall. The youth centre has a day centre for the disabled as well as public media, music, art and youth counselling rooms and a cooking studio. When planning the project, however, the main focus was on very conscious energy management and the need for sustainability. Among other things, this led to the decision in favour of a breathable external thermal insulation composite system clad in Keravette metallic black and a renewable energy supply.
