The extremely optimized time and cost framework of public buildings is usually the exclusion criterion for a complete clinker brick slip cladding. However, general contractor BAM Construction did not want to compromise on the facade in its desire to combine efficiency and individuality. And: where there's a will, there's a way. In order to meet the lavish brick facade demanded by facade designers and architects despite the cost dilemma, Aylesbury opted for a modern variant of brick slip cladding. It may be that this method results in losses in terms of classic installation perfection. However, it makes you largely independent of not always predictable and cost-intensive aspects such as installation time, installation weather and installation appearance. We are talking about a facade design with industrially prefabricated brick slip panels.

Individual clinker bricks prefabricated laid on panels
Panels can also be clad - as was done at the Technical College - with clinker brick slips produced individually in an architectural firing and with individually defined laying patterns. In order to achieve the most natural laying appearance possible on the large facade areas despite standardized panel cladding, three different laying patterns were defined as panel types according to the architects' design specifications. These were then attached to the facade in a certain recurring rhythm on an aluminum support system. This creates the look of traditional brick cladding, but installation is much easier and quicker. Cladding with STRÖHER unique products and the appropriate corner solutions can be achieved in this way very cost-effectively. Slip panels can be installed using space-saving mobile scissor work platforms. In Aylesbury too, despite the complete facade cladding, no scaffolding was necessary. This enabled other trades to work at the same time. In this case, in addition to the facade cladding, the pipe installations and the design of the outdoor facilities could be carried out very flexibly. Factors that helped to implement the architect's wish for a closed brick facade in a public building despite the tight cost and time budget by saving further time, labor and materials.
