STRÖHER WELCOMES NEW APPRENTICES

On 1 August 2016, four new apprentices joined the ceramic producer Ströher. These new recruits were welcomed to Dillenburg and the Ströher Group by the management team, the people responsible for their training and their allocated mentors.

Johannes Weg, Managing Director Production at Ströher GmbH: "Training is a key issue for us, because as extrusion specialists we have a real need for enthusiastic and well-qualified specialists in order to guarantee the high standards that the phrase "made in Dillenburg' means to our customers worldwide. As we work towards expanding our market leadership in the area of extruded floor and facade ceramics, we are delighted to welcome each and every motivated apprentice. We invest in young people and hope they will continue to pursue their careers with us once they have completed their training."

In order to break the fresh recruits in gently, their first day started with a brief introduction to their mentors followed by a chance to get to know each other over breakfast.

Oliver Schweitzer, Personnel Manager of Ströher GmbH:

"We pride ourselves on having a welcoming culture based on a mentoring system. The mentors in question are usually just one year further ahead, which means they remember their own anxieties and initial concerns and can therefore support the new apprentices with issues that they may not wish to bother their trainers with. This gives the apprentices a sense of security at a personal level, all the way through to providing them with companionship during the lunch break. That is also important at Ströher."

Following a welcome tour through the various commercial departments, the highlight of the first day was without doubt the two-hour works visit through the heart of Ströher: the production facility.

The apprentices were given a comprehensive understanding of the individual facilities. After enjoying lunch together in the Ströher showroom they then went off to their new workplaces with best wishes for a successful start.

In the past few years, it has been apparent time and time again that apprentices are not just fascinated by the complex production facilities in the individual Ströher plants. They are also delighted to learn that Ströher uses regional raw materials to create high quality products with worldwide appeal.

The activities of the Ströher Group currently cover four different areas: There are the two product segments of the parent company and extrusion specialist Ströher GmbH: floor and facade ceramics. And the two subsidiaries "Gepadi" and "Ströher Living" represent modern and sophisticated residential ceramics and complement the entire ceramics range with their fine stoneware.
