The labour market is changing rapidly: the career profiles of many people these days include unpaid internships, frequent job changes, and employment as contract workers, temporary employees or multi-jobbers. While their grandparents and parents mostly spent their entire working lives in a single company before taking well-deserved retirement, the circumstances are much more uncertain for today's new entrants into the labour market. Belonging to a single company for several decades is no longer a given. But it does still occur sometimes: the Dillenburger-based ceramics manufacturer Ströher recently held a ceremony to thank some deserving employees for up to 40 years of loyalty to the company.

Last year, the Ströher Group once again lived up to its pioneering role in the area of environmental and climate protection. In total, the Ströher Group was able to save 1,026 tons of resources, as well as 131 tons of greenhouse gases, through its responsible use of materials such as mixed plastics, paper, cardboard, lightweight packaging and wood.

Start of training in Germany: for four young people the 1st August is a particularly exciting day. It marks the start of their professional life and therefore, for most trainees, the first contact with a new world. Eight motivated young people have started their careers in industrial ceramics, industrial mechanics, electronics and industrial management in Hessen with the clinker and ceramic specialist Ströher. Through the focused training of qualified up-and-coming specialists, the market leader is ensuring standards in the field of extruded floor and facade ceramics which are associated with 'Made in Dillenburg' clinker ceramics across the globe. Any initial fears dissipated quickly thanks to the trainee supporting mentor scheme and a warm welcome from management, HR management and the works council.

The "Stein im Brett" award has become like an "Oscar" for the construction industry and is awarded annually in Germany by the leading construction project information service ibau. The assessment basis used by the specialist jury, which consists of professional tradespeople, includes the aspects of product quality, value for money, ease of use and whether they would recommend the products. In 30 categories, 2,544 skilled trade businesses selected online, from among 299 manufacturers, the products that they particularly liked in 2018. Ströher GmbH – the extrusion specialist for the production of frost-resistant outdoor floor and façade ceramics – was ranked third in the Tiles category, immediately after the corporate giants in the ceramics market.

Sustainable business is one of the most important requirement for ensuring environmental and climate protection. The Ströher Group is setting an example in this regard.

Dillenburg: At a small ceremony, the ceramics producer Ströher recently thanked employees who were celebrating anniversaries at the company, in its showroom in Ströherstraße.

On 1 August 2017, Felix Beck, Philipp-Luis Diehl, Marius Gerth, Denny Hurraß, Philemon Knocke and Nina Polzin started as apprentices in Dillenburg and were warmly welcomed to the Ströher Group by the Ströher management, the instructors and the training mentors personally assigned to them.
